Hello everyone and thank you to everyone who participated in the presvious season of MKU. Hopefully everyone had fun, and got to feel the adrenaline pumping in a competetive environment. When something ends, we usually start something new, so we figured we should probably tell everyone of our plans as of right now.

First of all, we are gonna become two staff members fewer. Ronan and Teeples are leaving the staff group, and we thank them for their time and wish them good luck for the future. We are currently unsure if we want to add another member to staff, but if we decide we need more people we will announce it.

Continuing talking about staff internally, we have re-established Admins for MKU Staff. We've had a couple of situations where we've seen that the lack of someone in charge has been a negative thing, so we are gonna try it again. The admins got voted to be Nato and myself, but this will not change much for anyone outside of MKU staff.

So what is in it for you guys now? Well, a couple of weeks ago Nato posted this thread, and since most of the responses were positive we've decided to go with that idea. We will start signups today on a new thread, and they will end on Saturday September 23rd. We need some time to tweek the ruleset and to generally prepare for a new format, so the tournament itself would begin on September 30th.

This would run for 3-5 weeks depending on how many teams sign up, so if you want your Mario Kart fix before the next season of WCL style competition begins I strongly urge you and your team to participate. We want to inform everyone that results in Season 1 will be the main factor for seedings next season of normal league style, but if someone does a lot better/worse in this tournament than they did in Season 1 we will take it into consideration.

We would start a "normal" wcl style after this tournament, which would be the official Season 2.

We also got a new logo, and changed our color here on the boards. If you want to see a high quality verison of the logo check the spoiler below.

And that should cover everything, feel free to give us feedback below. We do listen to you and will consider anything you guys say. Cheers!

Is the mini tournament going to be once a week on Sunday at the same time we currently play?

Wondering about this too - is it possible maybe to get some information soon about the schedule for the tournament? If its only Sunday the one war as usual we would be okay playing in this, but if it requieres multiple wars every weekend (which it sounds like it will be the case) we will most likely not play.

Also what are the current plans for 200cc and Battle? Assuming they will take a break until Season 2 starts, but as I think 200cc was fine, Battle needs some rework to make it more fun to play. (in the end it looked like there was no motivation to play it out which was a shame :() Best of 3 System maybe with hosting team decides the first format, then the loser decides the next so you have some variation.

    Some thoughts.

    1. We really need that info about the schedule for the tournament, as there are tons of teams for which this is the main factor whether to play or not. Not even a full schedule, just tell us if we'll still play one weekly match at 3pm est on Sunday or not.

    2. 3 weeks is kind of a long time without official matches for a new game in which we should be trying to keep and increase overall activity. Especially for those teams who don't play the tournament it will be over a month, plenty of time to lose members or die entirely. I likely would have preferred at least one more regular season before a multi week tournament like this, but that may just be me.

    3. Teeps leaving is a blow. Can't really blame him for trying to avoid that mint green color to be honest (seriously, who had that idea? The orange was dope), but it'll still leave a pretty big hole in staff as a whole. I'm confident the others will step in and do a great job, but Teeps is Teeps after all. Thank you for all your work, know how much it is appreciated by everyone and don't talk yourself down.

    4. As Boshi said, if your goal is to keep offering a competitive environment for 200cc and battle those two modes shouldn't be completely ignored for at least over a month. That might kill them.

That's all for now, might pop in later again when the discussion has advanced.

The schedule would depend on how many people signs up @Kefka @Boshi . But it may become 2 matches some weeks preferably 2 and 3 pm sunday atm but maybe we'd even use some saturday too.

200 and Battle wasn't mentioned as we do not have any clear plans for them. we just posted a thread about the interest and discussion about it tho.

@Nizer 3 weeks is defo some time, but we thought a week for sign ups was a little short and we need to evaluate the last season. we should prob look into an ffa or something maybe next week or something.

Why is the logo not symmetrical at all?

It looks much, much, worse than the older one in my opinion. It feels like a step down from the cleaner, more recognisable and more professional looking older design.

We are thinking about entering a second side into MKU next season (I assume I don't need to worry about registering just yet), so this would be a good opportunity to blood some racers even less experienced than us.

Do they need to be fully registered as for MKU or is this a bit more relaxed?

They would still need to fully register, it's that way for every event hosted by MKU Staff. Hyped to see a potential second team tho
